Reading40 Book Challenge
All of the 5th graders are being challenged to read 40 books. This will require reading at home and school. Please pick out a place with your child in your house that is quiet and away from electronics. We are expecting 20 min. a night. During the week when an especially busy night occurs they can make up the time on a different night. |

Our students are learning how to work out of storage spaces other then personal desks. As teachers, we are trying to support our students in moving throughout their schedules ready to learn in each class that they enter. Many students are still struggling with this task. We continue to give specific directions on what to bring to each class. Starting this week, when students
come into classrooms unprepared they will be moving their clip down in their homerooms.
They will also be rewarded for being prepared

WritingStudents have recently taken a look at the writing they have done in their writer's notebooks to look for an area they would like to grow in. Students set their own goals to work on this year.
We are getting ready to start our personal narratives We have been looking at different books in class and learning how we can use strategies authors have used in our own writing. |
VocabularyEach week there will be required work and a quiz on the vocabulary words. There are also links to Quizlets for each unit under "Student Links" on this Weebly. Word lists will be put in Friday Folders the week before the test.

We are in the middle of studying multiplication of whole numbers. It is clear that many students still need to practice their facts. Students will learn how to use the area model for multiplication and work on the traditional model. Please let us know when your child is struggling on the homework for more than 30 min. Mrs. AllanWe are continuing through our second unit and are working on multiplying and dividing decimals. The students are also working to develop strategies and skills for solving multi-step, multi-operational problems that come up in real-world math situations.
